1. The Alps mountains are affected by glacation. Sicily island is affected by tectonic activity from volcanoes. Mount Blanc is affected by wind.
2. Europes waterways are important because they provide transportation, irrigation, and electricity.
Creative Writing:
The Rhine River in western Europe connects many industrial cities to the port of Rotterdam on the North Sea. It provides links from inland area and to sea. It might become hard to control immigration between surronding countries.

1. The major influences on climate in Europe are it's northern latitudeand proximity to the sea, also Westerly winds and the presence of large mountain ranges like the Alps affect climate.
2. Winds affect Europes climate regions. For example prevailing werserly winds bring warm, moist air to western Europe. The winds can also bring cold temperatures to the area. Local winds in the area sometimes cause changes in the areas normal weather pattern.
Creative Writing:
Dublin and Duluth have different average temperatures for many reasons. Although they are so close theyre wind patterns may be different bringing different temperatures to the area. Also their altitudes may be different depending on the area which will cause a difference in temperature. Another reason is that one area could possibly be closer to a nearby body of water which would make the temperature cooler.

Chapter 10 Homework
Chapter 10, Section 1
1. The basis of the economies of many Latin American countries are there resources. Their resources keep them trading with other countries and they are trying to use their resources to work towards better manufacturing and technology use.
2. Latin Americas dependent status allows it to export much more than they import keeping them out of debt with other countries. Brazil emerged with stronger economies because of there expanding global trade.
Creative Writing:
The NAFTA reduced trade restrictions and increased the flow of goods, services, and people between Mexico and the United States. Trade grew 10-15 percent anually. In the United States labor groups are loosing there jobs and pay is decreasing. People do not want to build in Mexico because prices are higher for things like electricity.

1. Development has caused people to start to burn down and eliminate parts of rainforests, grasslands, and other nature in its way. Devoloping land continues to spread and devouer more and more land.
2. Latin Americas growth in urban population is causing enviornmental challenges in cities. Population growth is beginning to exceed the available resources.

Chapter 9 Homework
Chapter 9, Section 1
1. Latin Americas Native American empires have made many contributions to the regions cultural development because they were the original people in the area. Therefore their traditions were carried on and mixed with the europeans culture when they invaded their land.
2. European rule has definatly influenced political and social structures because they took over the area and ran it by their rules. They introduced new political structure made a new constitution that put Mexico under a federal republic.
Creative writing:
Mexico's sports come from various countries and different cultures. One of their most favored sports is bullfighting and people like to gather in an arena and watch. They also are very interested in soccer, like most other countries in the world. They also enjoy baseball and a form of handball called jaialai.

1. The most dominant religion is Roman Catholic along with other forms of Protestant Christianity in English speaking areas.
2. In the Carribbean and Central America most of the ethnic groups are Black(64%), white(7%), and Asian(4%). Also the maya desendents make up alot of the Guaremala population and overall about two thirds of Central Americans are mestizos.

Balboa was the first to explore Panama. He climben a peak and discover a body of water that was as large and the Atlantic Ocean and people had ideas to use it to link the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This begun the building of the Panama Canal and it has become one of the worlds most important trade routes.

1. The biggest problem this region faces is places for people to settle. The land is taken up by dense forests and the people live on whatever edges of land they can, although the population is rapidly growing and there is not much room.
2. Stable economys and high standard of living are the two things that determine the quality of health care in the area. If the economy is good and it is a good area the people will have better access to healthcare and live longer healthier lives.

If my family was deciding whether to stay in our rural area or move to a city. I would rather move to a city, although it might be crowded but there would be way more jobs available. I would rather live around many people and be social then isolated. The area might have a better economy and more schools and doctors available so i think it would be much smarter to move.

Chapter 7 Homework
Chapter 7, Section 1
1. Geographers usually divide Latin America into 3 subregions, Middle America(Mexico to Panama), the Carribbean, and South America.
2. Latin America is economically important because it is rich in many resources, especially minnerial resources. They are known for having large amounts of gold, silver, and even emralds along with many other nonprecious stones. They also export copper and bauxite.
Creative Writing:
People use the rivers in Latin America in many important ways. First of all they use rivers to transport people and goods to different regions. Theyre rivers help to create hydroelectric power to power cities nearby. The Panama canal is a signifigant waterways that is used to allow ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean without having to travel around the southern tip of South America.

1. Most of Latin America has a tropical climate, but more specifically a tropical wet, tropical dry, humid subtropical and dry climate.
2. Latin Americas climate is largely affected by elevation rather than distance from the equator. The higher an area is elevated the less and less vegetation there is. As you go up a mountain in Latin America the number of trees decrease as you escalate and at the top it becomes just snow and ice.
Creative Writing:
I am hicking in the Amazon Basin. It is a tropical wet climate and i am surronded by lush, green, vegetation everywhere i look. The weather is pretty warm, although it continues to rain very often. There is a slight breeze which is quite warm and humid. As i look up all i see are thick leaves creating a canopy blocking the sun from beneath the trees. I continue to explore finding more and more distinctly different species of animals constantly. All around me are bright colors of flowers plants and animals of many sorts.
